Rickerd refers to his personal work as "Surreal Collage" and says that he finds the electronic media enables him to integrate his photography and illustration-design seamlessly so that the final product looks natural. Rickerd's surreal collages capture the feeling of open spaces and the elements of life. They are visual memories of a time that may never have existed except in the imagination. Rickerd seems to tap into shared subconscious, a sort of universal dream state where everyone can wander free.
Today Rickerd is an accomplished underwater photographer collecting his imagery from far away places including: The Red Sea, the South Pacific (Micronesia Islands), Galapagos Islands, the Caribbean, Central America (Belize & Honduras) and Mexico.
Rickerd has a personal concern for the safety of the world's underwater environment and is attempting to document as much of it as possible before it's extinction.
David Rickerd currently has been working on his Winged Beauties Collection. This collection of surreal images are a mixture of above and below photographic elements. The main focus is on the winged beauties (butterflies) put together in an abstract, painterly, photographic surreal image. Today I am pursuing a more fine art photographic image product.
